It's party time this weekend in the Valley
HARK!
I hear…jams…
It’s party time, from 4 p.m. onward Saturday, Aug. 13, at Afri-Soul, a collective of Black-owned businesses at 1145 East Washington Street, which hosts Summer Jam--an event promising “tons of fun! We’ll have water, foam, splashing, great food, drinks, music and fun!”
This big jam is not cheap: tickets are $50.
To get the pulses revving and bodies shakies, DJ Average Joe, DJ Tony Kujo, DJ Curlyy Frii and DJ Hitman Shawn will fire up trance, dub step, techno house, Chicago house and a little old school…..
For those looking for jams, but on a moderate budget, admission is $10-20 for Afro-Soca Saturdays, a weekly dance party with soca, Afrobeats, reggae, dancehall, reggaeton and more island grooves at Ocho Rios Jerk Spot, 4220 West Northern Avenue.
What could be more old school than….Battle of the Bands!
The first Hearts On Fire Battle Of The Bands goes down at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022 at the Rebel Lounge. The winner gets the chance to open for Hearts on Fire.
This show is all ages and a benefit for Rosie’s House, which provides music education to local kids; tickets are $10.
