(Pancake) batter up! Forget baseball, there's plenty to swing at this weekend

Nope, that’s not the sounds of Spring Training–that’s a strikeout, this year.
We’re talking pancake batter…and pitchers of beer.
Welcome to the latest Pancakes and Booze Festival, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. March 4, at The Duce, 525 South Central Avenue in south Phoenix. (“Once the anchor of Phoenix’s original produce district … The Anchor Manufacturing building is now home to The Duce!”)
According to the festival: “The LA based event originated in 2009 and has since popped up more than 500 times in 35+ cities around Europe & North America…..
The Phoenix show features DJ’s, some 100 artists and all-you-can-wolf-down pancakes; the cost is $10 before 7 p.m. today, $15 at the door.”
Plenty more to swing at on a busy weekend:
-Massive music: M3F, the event formerly known as McDowell Mountain Music Festival, is back this weekend at the Margaret T. Hance Park in Phoenix. A fat two-day lineup includes ZHU, Leon Bridges, Kaytranada, Jungle, Parcels, Spafford, Goth Babe etc.
It ain’t cheap: $100 for a single-day pass, $160 for both days.
-Roosevelt Row celebrates First Friday with plenty of art from local galleries, most open until 11 p.m. On the music front, School of Rock jams at 6 p.m. and Latosque & Friends making noise from 8-10 p.m.
-Busy local comic!
Lola Hernandez hustles laughs at the Breakroom at 8 p.m. Sunday, March 6. She'll be at Gracie's Tax Bar March 14 and the 1227 Taproom March 24.
-Glendale laughs: Jerry Karnes, of BMG Comedy and El Paso Underground Comedy, trips out with friends for a show at 9 p.m. Friday, March 4, at the Horny Toady/Desert Rose Pizza and Gastropub, 6729 North 57th Drive, Glendale, AZ 85301
-Tony Vicich headlines weekend shows at JP’s Comedy in Gilbert.

What’s that all about?
“We'll share the theme for the night 30 minutes before showtime. Participants sign up to tell a 5-minute story based on the theme. We'll draw 8-10 names from a hat to decide who our lucky slammers will be for the night.”
-It’s a major laugh battle at Improv Mania, with Phillip Jewell hosting as two improv teams throw down tonight in Chandler.

The SCOTTSDALE PERSIAN NEW YEAR FESTIVAL happens at the Scottsdale Waterfront, 7135 E Camelback Road, Scottsdale, 85251, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 5. Free admission.

The 3rd Hungarian Festival Arizona (aka HunFestAZ) goes from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday March at Glendale Community College, Soleri Amphitheatre (next to the Stadium). Hungarian music, dance, art...and food:
